- Every year a large number of pilgrims in Malaga, on horseback or in richly-decorated carts and carriages, prepare for the pilgrimage of their patron saint, Nuestra Señora de la Victoria.
- Before you head off down the coast, stop for a while in Malaga for the region's biggest and most exciting party, the Feria de Malaga.
- Every year on the 28 December Spain celebrates La Fiesta de los Santos Inocentes or the Day of the Innocents. In Malaga, the fiesta is closely linked to rural traditions and to this day it is celebrated with a colourful display of folk music known as verdiales.
- The traditional Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos, or Parade of the Kings of the Orient, is held every year in the streets of Malaga's town centre. Kings Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar are escorted by a dozen festive processions, five musical bands and a chorus in a colourful parade in which hundreds of children and parents gather to catch the sweets and little toys that rain down on them from the floats.
- During the week before Lent, Málaga is filled with colour as the Carnival parades take to the streets, including murgas or street bands, comparsas or masquerades, quartets and choruses.
